While one part of the team raced in the final stage of the Bretagne Ladies Tour, six other riders started in the Belgium one day race GP Eco-Struct on Saturday. As expected, that race ended in a bunch sprint. With a good result for Team Coop – Hitec Products, as Nora Tveit (photo) managed to finish 7th, while Sylvie Swinkels got 13th. Lena Soland made her international race debut for the team.
Dutch Team Coop – Hitec Products cyclist Nicole Steigenga is on fire. Within a period of three weeks, she has secured four podium spots for the team. After becoming second in the Ronde de Mouscron and Leiedal Koerse, she now also got second in both the second and last stage of the Bretagne Ladies Tour. It was the result of strong work from the whole team during the five days long stage race in France.
While Team Coop – Hitec Products is performing well in the Bretagne Ladies Tour, where Nicole Steigenga took another podium place for the team in the second stage, Tiril Jørgensen showed herself in another UCI stage race. With the Norwegian team she participated in the new Vuelta Ciclista Andalucia ‘Ruta del Sol’. After three hard stages, the 21-years-old rider found herself back on the 16th place in the general classification.
Team Coop – Hitec Products have signed a new rider, who will join the group immediately. The talented 23-years-old Lena Soland from Norway will make her international debut for the team in Belgium in early June. Soland is more or less a ‘blank page’ in cycling. She played football on top level the past 15 years, developed a love for cycling and won already some local races in Norway.
Less than two weeks after her second place in the Ronde de Mouscron, Nicole Steigenga has again become second in a UCI-race. This time she did that in the Leiedal Koerse, a new Belgium race on the calendar, that shows a lot of similarities with the men’s E3 Prijs. In the last 10 kilometers Nicole was together with three Parkhotel Valkenburg, with success covered a lot of their attacks, but then got beaten in the sprint for the win.
Only five days after the first international podium spot of the season, Nora Tveit has given Team Coop – Hitec Products already its second! In the EPZ Omloop van Borsele, the 19-years-old Norwegian rider finished third. Nora belonged to a group of 6 riders that sprinted for the second place, behind solo winner Maaike Boogaard (UAE Team).
