Next to the arrival of several riders, Team Coop – Hitec Products are happy to announce the team also has added an extra sports director to team for 2023. Tjarco Cuppens, who was the team manager and sports director in Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch in the past years, joins the team. The Dutchman brings a lot of experience with him, as before he was a professional cyclist himself.
“After an active cycling career of 22 years and then 7 years as a Team Manager and Sports Director, I am proud to work for a team like Team Coop-Hitec Products”, Cuppens says. “It is a team with a historic past and one of the longest existing teams in women’s cycling. Together with Karl and Tone, I hope to finish with the team among the best women’s continental teams in 2023, so that we are better positioned for participation in the World Tour competitions.”
“Furthermore, my ambition is to achieve several victories in the UCI competitions, this is a goal that must be attainable. In 2023 we have several riders who can finish high in a bunch sprint, in combination with a few riders who can go uphill well. This is an ideal combination to compete for good results in all races.”
Healthy and pleasant atmosphere
Cuppens already got an impression of the team during the past season. “During my acquaintance with the team in AG Tour de la Semois and GP Isbergues in September, I immediately experienced that there is a healthy and pleasant atmosphere within the team, with mutual respect between the riders and staff, something I value very much myself. I am therefore very happy with this move after my current team Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch will cease to exist at the end of this season.”
