Kerry Jonker to join Team Coop – Hitec Products

Team Coop – Hitec Products are happy to announce the arrival of Kerry Jonker to the team, as the final signing for 2023. Just as Georgia Danford, who was announced last week, she comes over from Team Andy Schleck. The 26-years-old rider from South Africa competed on two world championships on the road and won a bronze medal at this year’s individual time trial of the African Continental Championships.

“I am very excited and grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to join them”, Jonker says about the new step in her cycling career. “They have a great calendar and great reputation. I am excited for what is to come. The team has a good structure and they have been a consistent team in the women’s peloton for many years. They have developed some incredible riders.”

After racing for a Belgium club team first, Jonker in 2022 raced her second year for a UCI-team. She looks forward to doing more races and develop further. “My goal is definitely to have a consistent season. Of course to try and get some results in .1 and .2 races, and to gain experience in World Tour races. And the idea of doing more races than before, making it a fuller season, is already exciting at itself. I haven’t really found out what kind of rider I am yet, which is actually quite exciting. I definitely think I am all-round and I look forward to do some longer stage races as well.”

Moving together with Georgia Danford
Jonker already knows some riders from the team, as she met some at races in the past. Danford, however, she knows the best. “It is super nice to join together with Georgia, as I know what a good rider and a great finisher she is. She is someone that can really get results in the end. Working together with someone that is as driven as she is, is great and it is nice to be going on this journey together.”

Not shy in World Tour race
The 2023 season is for sure something to look forward to. “Getting to race for some results in a race winning scenario in smaller races and try to push for results in World Tour races, is going to help the whole team to develop well. I think Team Coop – Hitec Products have proven before that that is how they develop riders. They are not shy in World Tour races and are not just filling up the numbers.”
