Team Coop – Hitec Products has shown itself well in the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders). Mieke Kröger was in a breakaway of two, in the beginning of the race, gaining a maximum advantage of thirty seconds and staying away for about fifteen kilometers. Only 18 years old Anne Dorthe Ysland was in the end the first rider to finish, at the 55th place. Annemiek van Vleuten won the race.
In the first race of Team Coop – Hitec Products in the new team kit, Ingvild Gaskjenn was the first rider of the team to finish in Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday. Together with Amalie Lutro, Gaskjenn ended in the third big group after a very hard race that was won by Annemiek van Vleuten. “I think we worked well together today and we are improving as a team.”
In addition to the merger between the men’s UCI continental Team Coop and the women’s UCI Team Coop – Hitec Products, the team is happy to announce another new step. Riders of the women’s team will from now on get equal payment to the riders of the men’s team. On Wednesday Team Coop – Hitec Products will start in the Belgium UCI 1.1 race Dwars door Vlaanderen. In that race, the team races for first time in their new team kit.
The Norwegian UCI women’s cycling team Team Hitec Products and the male UCI continental team Team Coop join forces. Coop Norge wants to take another step in the fight for equal opportunities in sports and strengthen its position in cycling. The teams will merge with immediate effect, and Team Hitec Products will change its name to Team Coop – Hitec Products. The team clothing will also undergo a change as soon as possible.
After months of looking forward to it, the cycling season has finally started. On Saturday, the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was the first women’s race of the season. A hard race to start with, having all top teams in the peloton. Team Hitec Products rode a good race, finishing with three riders, all in the second group.
In her second year an U23 rider, Mari Mohr joins Team Hitec Products in the 2021 cycling season. The 19 years old Norwegian rider will be one of the younger riders in a young team. She is however eager to learn and with her background in off-road cycling, she brings skills with her that will also help her in the peloton. “The explosiveness, quickness and the confidence I have in my technical skills will for sure help me if it comes to road racing.”
