Ane Iversen is the new time trial champion of Norway. The 29-years-old rider who joined Team Coop – Hitec Products only a year ago won the 25 kilometers race against the clock on Thursday. She was five seconds fast than Katrine Aalerud of Movistar, who won the title the past two years. This Friday the riders from Norway race for the criterium title, while on Sunday the road race is on the program.
Getting the gold around her shoulders was something that Ane was aiming for. “The expectation for the race was that it would be hard, with a technical and elevated terrain”, she looks back. “The race was executed according to the plan that my coach, Eirik Danielsen, had set up. The plan was to control the watts and intensity during the race, in order to maintain a steady pace.”
We can for sure say now, that the plan worked out very well. “I am very happy with the result and it has not yet fully dawned on me! Gold at ITT national championships has been the goal since last year, so it was incredibly fun that it was achieved, despite the fact that the preparations were not optimal with illness in the days leading up to the start.”
