Nora sprints to a strong 3rd place at Omloop van Borsele

The team’s first podium on European soil of 2023 has been secured on Saturday at the 2023 edition of EPZ Omloop van Borsele, UCI 1.1. Nora Tveit sprinted to a strong 3rd in the bunch sprint for 2nd place after the winner escaped with a late attack.  Tveit was just beaten by former Hitec Products rider Audrey Cordon-Ragot who took 2nd.

“I felt really good the entire race, and felt confident going in to the last 10km. Unfortunately the other girls in our team were caught up in the big crash 2km before the finish. This meant that I was on my own when the sprint came. We just missed being able to catch the solo breakaway, but I was able to go for the sprint for second place. It was a close sprint, and I wasn’t sure if I ended second or third. Unfortunately the centimetres weren’t on my side this time. Either way, I am happy with the result, and glad to be able to take the team’s first podium of the season!” – Nora Tveit after her podium place at Omloop van Borsele.

A positive result after months of injuries and crashes

“Finally we have a podium” says DS Tone Lima. “There was a large starting peloton, narrow roads and little wind so we knew positioning would be very important in this race to avoid crashes. The team positioned well and avoided the chaos behind. In the last 1.5km there was a big crash before the finish line, Nora was well positioned and could therefore deliver a strong sprint. It was close but in the end it was 3rd place for us. We are more than happy with this result as a team after months of injuries and crashes.”
