Amalie Lutro: “This team gives me the possibility to learn”

Only 19 years old since the 15th of March, Amalie Lutro was the youngest rider of Team Hitec Products – Birk Sport at the beginning of the season. After Thale Kielland Bjerk joined the team a few weeks ago, she is no longer the youngest. However, Amalie is still one of the four first year elite riders in the team. And she already showed herself in a good way. It is about time to talk to Amalie, who is racing the Omloop van Borsele next Saturday.

“For me it is an unique opportunity to be a part of Team Hitec Products – Birk Sport”, Amalie tells. She is happy to have a UCI-team from her home country Norway. “It gives me the possibility to learn from my teammates and to compete in a lot of races and on a high level, which gives me freedom to develop as a cyclist.”

Joining the group, Amalie felt at home straight away. “The atmosphere in the team is great! Everyone is kind and caring, and only want what’s best for you. There are so many talented rides here, and they all share tips and information. That really helps especially the young riders. I am undoubtedly looking forward to the rest of the season with them!”

Good advice
It will be a season of learning, as Amalie just started with racing on the elite level. “My goal for this season is to develop myself as much as possible. I think Team Hitec Products – Birk Sport is the perfect team to accomplish that. There is no pressure and the more experienced riders are always giving good advice. I like all aspects of cycling. The time trials, criteriums and hills. For now I am not sure yet what kind of rider I am. However, I do think hard races with hills and a fast finish suit me the best.”

Marta and Lucy
The Omloop van Borsele will again be a race on Dutch soil for Amalie, after the Healthy Ageing Tour earlier this month. Being a few months into the season, she knows who to watch from the team in the upcoming period. “Everyone has already proven themselves strong in the first races of the season, but for sure I think Marta and Lucy will get some good results this season.”
