Already early in the race Doris Schweizer (Cylance) got clear from the bunch and in the peloton our team stayed at the front to make sure the gap didn’t grow too big. As the peloton approached the short climb at Conishbrough Castle World Champion Lizzie Armistead (Boels Dolmans) attacked and bridged up to Schweizer together with Leah Kirchman (Liv-Plantur). The trio worked well in the wind and at 15km to go the lead was up to a minute. Our team organized and narrowed down the gap to 45 seconds at 10km then 20 seconds at 5km until a perfectly timed catch with 2km to go. The team prepared for a bunch sprint and with 150m to go Kirsten pulled of another strong finish to cross the line first. To add some icing to the cake Lauren won the sprint competition making sure the team brought home some well-deserved and record high price money.
Our team: Tatiana Guderzo, Tone Hatteland Lima, Charlotte Becker, Simona Frapporti, Lauren Kitchen & Kirsten Wild.
