Though it was a dissapointing day for some of them, Emma Johansson and Emilie Moberg were not content for different reasons, the modest 13th place of Lise Nøstvold took Norway up among the top 20 nations in the UCI-ranking.

10.12.2011
We start already 1.February with 'Ladies tour of Qatar' before the first training camp in Gran Canaria. As last year we will then transfer to Belgium for the spring classics. All in all we do 11 stage races, all 9 world cups, 30 1-day UCI races, all 6 Norwegian cups, Nordsjørittet, National championships and some other national races.
We will also do the new team time trial world championship for UCI teams, and hopefully some more Hitec-girls are selected for the olympics and worlds.
As usual, this is only a plan, cancellations and injuries may leads to changes. We will also work closely with the national federations to ensure the best possible race programs for the girls.

Triple Victory in the Norwegian Cup Final in Bergen
03.10.2011
The team did a powerful race in Bergen, when Sara Mustonen won, with Frøydis Wærsted on second and Emma Johansson third. We started the race hard with 8 girls in the front, then Cecilie Johansen did first attack. After some attempts, Sara Mustonen and Tone Hatteland broke away with Christiansen (Ringerike), Johnsen (CK Victoria) and Heine (Bergen CK). This break reached 3 minutes into the first hill 'Gullfjellet' after 30 km. Emma and Frøydis attacked in this hill, and bridged to the break after about 55 km. The 4 Hitec-girls then attacked the break until the 3 winners was away alone. The trio rode together until the final 100 meters when Sara and Frøydis sprinted for it and Sara won. Tone stayed in the second group and finished 7. We won 3 of the 5 Norwegian cups this year, but the total winner was Linnea Fredang from Åsane CK. Emilie Moberg was 3 in the GC.

World Championship Road Race, Copenhagen
25.09.2011
5 riders from the team was in the road race in Copenhagen Saturday. The race was won in a mass sprint by Georgia Bronzini (Italy) ahead of Marianne Vos (Nederland) and Ina Yoko Teutenberg (Germany). It turned out to be a passive race, with almost no activity from the big nations, other than close down all attacks. Especially Holland disappointed by laying all eggs in one basket (sprint with Vos) with such a great team. A good indicator of the passitivity is that 120 out of 146 riders finished the race. The only real break was Canadian veteran Clara Hughes, who had a maximum of 43 seconds before she was hunted down. Besides Canada, only the Russian girls undertook any action in the race.
This course of events did not fit our biggest hope Emma Johansson, who hoped for at least a podium spot. She will not be satisfied with her 14th place in a sprint where she took too much wind, unable to get into the sprint train of Holland. The Swedish team with Sara Mustonen was very visible in the first part of the race, but Emma had to close some important gaps herself towards the finish.
Lisa Brennauer did a very good job for her captain Teutenberg and can easily say she was part of her bronze medal.
Lise Nøstvold did a marvelous job for Emilie Moberg, and did a decent sprint to 13th place when she was left alone after Emilie was pushed into the fences 2 km from the finish. For Emilie, who was sitting on the wheel of Bronzini when she was pushed, it was disappointing. Both Emilie and Lise showed a significant level increase from their first World Championship in 2010, which is really promising for Norwegian women cycling.

After a lot of activity a break of 14 went away with 3 of us: Mustonen, Thorsen and Wærsted. Grace Verbeke (Topsport Vlaanderen) attacked in the end and won solo ahead of van Vleuten and Gunnewijk. Sara was our best on a 8th place. In the peloton, Lise rehearsed sprint leadout on Emilie Moberg. This was the last race before the world championships, and also the last race for the team outside Norway this season.

Holland Ladies Tour (UCI 2.1) Stage 5-6
13.09.2011
In the final two stages the 5th ended in a bunch sprint won by Vos. Emma was still a little careful after the crash and didnt mix in. On the hilly last stage, our small 4-girl army had to protect against Nederland Bloeits' Gunnewijk attack on Emmas 2nd place. Tone tried to go with but had to let go, and after a short work at the front also had to let go of the peloton in the hard course. Lisa and Sara worked well to limit the lead on 2 mins. Sara did the hardest work and also had to let go after about 80 kms. Vos bridged over to the leaders but Emma went with her. Unfortunately Van Vleuten also made it to the lead group and it was unevitable that Marianne Vos broke loose and soloed to stage and overall victory. Emma was only beaten by Bronzini in the sprint and was 3 on the stage, then 2 on the GC. Lisa Brennauer fell down a little, but still her 12th place in the GC was strong.

Tour de Ardeche (UCI 2.2), Norwegian National Team
12.09.2011
Emma Pooley (Garmin Cervelo) was the end winner of the tour this year. After the good start, the good results continued for Norway in Ardeche, Lise Nøstvolds 9th overall was strong, but she was unlucky to be misguided in the last 100 meters of the last stage, where she lost a podium place according to Team leader Davy Wijnant. Lise also had a 7th place on stage 2. Frøydis Wærsted's 13th place was also solid and show that she is back after the injury. Emilie Moberg ended 31, while Cecilie Johansen and Thea Thorsen (Ringerike) ended almost an hour between Pooley in the GC. A long and hard race! Emilie's win on stage 1 was the biggest plus in Ardeche this year of course! She also gave her wheel to Lise on the critical 3d stage, but nevertheless Lise lost 2 minutes in the GC.

Last test before Holland Ladies was the nice criterium race 'Ronde van Goor' in Holland. GP de Plouay (CDM)
29.08.2011
The womens world cup final is held in the small Bretagne village Plouay, in a hilly course. Emma Johansson was the only girl that could beat the Nederland Bloeit riders Marianne Vos and Annemiek van Vleuten, although only theoretically. But this was not the best day for the team. Lise Nøstvold hasd an early crash, but came back and finished on a decent 29t place. The other girls finished out of limit, so Emma didnt get enough support against the Nederland Bloeit team. Annemiek van Vleuten won the race ahead of Evelyn Stevens (HTC Highroad) and Vos. Emma finished 10th, but secured her third place in the World Cup GC. Hitec Products ended on a 5th place in the world cup as a team.

Emma was very strong in a 6 girl break and finished first for the 11th time this season. The peloton was close, only 16 secs behind. This took her up to a 9th place in the GC. 2 stage victories, 2 third places and a 4th place in the TTT is the final status for the team in this race. 2.2) Stages 2 and 3
21.08.2011
Sunday we had 2 consecutive stages, starting with another Team Time Trial og 7,6 km. Time was taken on the 3d rider and our first girls were Lise Nøstvold, Lisa Brennauer and Emma Johansson. This was enought for a strong 4th place behind HTC Highroad, Nederland Bloeit and AA Drink, we were only one second from the podium. Unfortunately Emilie Moberg lost some crucial seconds in the youth contest by dropping close to the finish.
On the third 101 km long stage, Moberg, Brennauer and Johansson was in a big group with lots of attacks and activity, with some gap to the peloton. A Lisa Brennauer attack lead to the desicive break of 12 riders, and with all the big teams represented, it was allowed to go. Lisa did her best result of the year with her 3d place behind winner Charlotte Becker (HTC Highroad) and Trixi Worrack (AA Drink). 31.07.2011
A slightly dissapointing 10th place for Emma and the team in the road race. Another fantastic win in the world cup by Annemiek van Vleuten (Nederland Bloeit). Just as the break she was sitting in was caught, she attacked from it and won. It was describing for our day that our girl in the descicive break, Tiffany, couldnt follow for long. The fatigue of the team started to count in the last race of the summer. The girls tried their best for Emma to win her first World Cup on home ground, but one by one they had to throw in the towel and Emma had to do a lot of work herself in the end. Now some weeks of rest will be most welcome!

The greatest Victory so far in Thuringen Rundfahrt (UCI 2.1)
25.07.2011
The horrible terror attacks in Norway delayed the update of this page and also lead to upset the girls in Germany, on stage 5 riding with black ribbons. Against all odds and the mighty HTC Highroad Team, we managed to clutch back the 3 second lead of Amber Neben (HTC), a lead she earned on the time trial on stage 5. When Emma Johansson won the yellow jersey on the second stage, we held on to it by a whisper for 3 stages until we lost it by 3 seconds. So on stage 6, we needed 3 seconds, and took 4 on the 2 intermediate sprints, though HTC used their super sprinters Teutenberg and Hosking to try do deny her. For both Emma and the team, this was our biggest ever victory. Armitstead (Garmin-Cervelo) won the last stage, with Emma taking some additional seconds on Neben.

Amanda Miller (HTC Highroad) surprised the break with a late attack, and Sara was a little dissapointed by her nice 5th place. The situation in the top 10 is unchanged.

Stage win and yellow jersey in Thuringen Rundfahrt (UCI 2.1) Stage 2
21.07.2011
So far the most special win for Emma and the team this year: Tomorrow we will defend the yellow jersey in a big stage race. Aggressive riding from the start lead to a break of 13, with Emma Johansson, at 30 km. Strange desicions from the GC-contenders Emma Pooley (Garmin Cervelo) and Judith Arndt (HTC Highroad), when nobody wanted to close a small gap made by Kapusta (Gauss), lead to both being dropped from the break. Emma and Claudia Hausler (Germany) made speed in the break and in the end it was more than 5 minutes. Emma took her 9th victory this year with a long sprint in the break of 9 riders. It was also enough to steal the yellow jersey from the dominant HTC Highroad team. Two Russian girls was between the break and the peloton, and Lisa Brennauer showed her track skills by winning the peloton sprint.

(UCI 1.15)
20.07.2011
Kermes time in Belgium for Johanne Bergseth and Tone Hatteland (and the U23 Norway girls) - yesterday it was in Zottegem in Vlaanderen, Belgium. 40 girls to start, and the Hitec girls started aggressively. Johanne lead the pace and dropped many riders from the start. Tone got away with Grace Verbeke, and Thea Thorsen went contra on the break. Again Thorsen did a good race and manged to come in with a small group just ahead of the peloton. Tone won the peloton sprint (9th place) after a Johanne Bergseth leadout.

Thuringen Rundfahrt (UCI 1.2) Stage 1
20.07.2011
The first real stage of Thuringen was eventful - Tiffany Cromwell and Lise Nøstvold both crashed, Tiffany was in a big crash in the feeding zone. Lises race was destroyed by a puncture 9 km from the finish, when she dropped from a good place in the GC to second to last. As many as 8 girls abandoned the race on this stage. Helen Wyman (Horizon) was in a long break, but HTC Highroad took responsibility and chased her down. Teutenberg (HTC) won the sprint, Emma Johansson 5th. Sara was 13, Lisa Brennauer and Cecilie Johansen in the bunch, Tiffany just behind. Emma is now no 7 in the GC and Sara no 10

Dwars Door de Westhoek (UCI 1.2) 17.July
18.07.2011
A rainy and windy day in Vlaanderen, where we started with a mix team with Norway U23. Johanne had a bike breakdown in the first hill and had to change her bike, but she could only return to a group that had dropped already. After 30 km, a group of 10 escaped without us. The team did a good job of chasing, especially the juniors Matter and Skjolden, but we couldnt close the gap. Thea Thorsen from Ringerike attacked the remains of the peloton with 5 km to go and finished on an impressive 13.place. She was the only first year elite girl in the top 30!

Giro de Italia (UCI 2.1) stage 9 - 10
11.07.2011
Emma Johansson rode in to a second place on the last time trial stage in Torino Sunday. Winner was Ina Yoko Teutenberg (HTC Highroad). The TT took her to the 7.place in the final GC. Marianne Vos, who won 5 stages, won the overall race.On the last mountain stage (9) on Saturday, after Mustonen was in an early break, Emma dissapeared down the road and stayed away for 80 km until 5 km was left, when the common resources of Nederland Bloeit and especially HTC Highroad managed to eliminate her advantage. Emma had to settle for a 9th place on the stage. Altogether it was a good first Giro for the team, with 2 podiums, 2 4th polaces and a 5th place in the stages, and a 7th in the GC. 113 of the 140 starters completed the Giro.

Tour
de Feminin (UCI 2.2) completed
11.07.2011
The last 3 stages of Tour de Feminin was a little dissapointing from the Norwegian side, expectations was high after the performance of 2010. The ITT was won by Kupfernagel (Horizon), and only Tina Andrassen can be happy of the Norwegians, with 24.place on a regular bike. Tina ended on a nice 11th place in the GC, a result she created already on stage 1 by getting in the desicive break. The last 2 stages we were contesting the sprints without getting any real results and the 11th place of stage 2 of Emilie Moberg remained the best try of the race. Positive that the 13. and 20.places of Stine Borgli (Bryne CK) qualified her to accompany Moberg to Italy for the European Championships.

08.07.2011
This stage was terribly hard, and had 2000 h/m in 80 km, and finished on a mountain top, where the last 2 km was gravel (or mud to be precice). Finally, Emma Pooley (Garmin Cervelo) managed to beat Marianne Vos, but the Magla Rosa is still on Dutch hands. Emma Johansson attacked fiercely today and paid a little for that in the end, and finished 8. This caused her to drop one place in the GC.

Italia (UCI 2.1) stage 7 Rovato - Grosotto
07.07.2011
The 'Queen stage' up Mortirolo fitted both race leader Marianne Vos and Emma. The less steep way up (20 km, 1900 h/m) and the very steep decent favoured the technical descenders. Sara Mustonen was in todays break of 12, that had 7 minutes when the ascent started, but Vos and Emma Pooley brigded from the peloton and passed them eventually. Vos won with more than a minute to the world champ of 2009, Tatiana Guderzo. Emma was 9 today, 4:43 behind, and climbed up to 8th position in the general classification.

Mustonen 4th in Giro
de Italia (UCI 2.1) stage 6 Fontanellato – Piacenza
06.07.2011
Last sprinters stage before the mountains start again. 3 riders were in a long break today, and the peloton didnt catch them until 4 km to go. Emma did a nice leadout for Sara Mustonen who took a great 4th place behind Vos, Bronzini and Teutenberg. It was very hot today, and Tone Hatteland set a new unofficial team record of bottle collecting from the car (24!)... More important, the commisaries adjusted Emmas 1:43 time penalty from yesterday to 4 seconds (same as peloton), so she climbed back up to 10th place in the GC. So it was a good day again!

High speed and 43 km/h average in the flat stage towars Verona. Olympic champion Nicole Cooke tricked all the sprinters on the fifth stage. Tiffany was in the same breakaway as her but they were caught within the last kiometer. The big setback of the day was a major crash 150 meters before the finish that took down among many, Emma Johansson. She is bruised but generally ok. No results today despite a lot of work. Hopefully the resultllist will be adjusted to Emmas crash, as she otherwise will drop many places in the GC.

Race 22.May
23.05.2011
After the Norwegian Cup performance the day before Marie Voreland had left the scene and the four remaining girls intended to show that the victory was not a coincidence. With all the 4 girls at front, keeping the pace high all the way to the 4 km long Minneåsen climb at 26 km, we entered the base of the climb first. With a collective effort we ended on the top 6 riders with a 30 second lead, where we had 3, Frøydis Wærsted, Emilie Moberg and Lisa Brennauer. Tina Andreassen (Ringerike), Linn Torp (Alriksson) and Linnea Fredang (Åsane) completed the breakaway. The group worked well together and the chasing peloton could never get the gap below 60 seconds. Into the second small lap on about 80 km Emilie Moberg attacked, followed by Lisa Brennauer, and then Frøydis Wærsted managed to get a small gap of 5-10 seconds which lasted until the 6 km from the finish. When she was caught, Brennauer counterattacked, when the trio Torp/Fredang/Andreassen ran out of steam. Lisa quickly got 20 seconds, and increased until the finish to 35 seconds. A well deserved first win in the Hitec jersey for Lisa Brennauer! In the chase group, Frøydis Wærsted did a fine leadout for Emilie Moberg, who just managed to beat the 'surprise woman' of 2011, Linnea Fredang. Linn Torp was 4, while Tina Andreassen took the 5th place.

Another win for HTC Highroad and Ina Teutenberg in the 5th round of the world Cup. For us it was a dissapointing outcome, as Emma Johansson, who didnt have the best day, couldnt pass Sara Mustonen in the sprint who did a good leadout for her. The race today went very slow, paralyzed by the strong control from the HTC team. Little wind and no hills made this race a pure sprinters day. With her 14.Place Emma failed to pass Annemiek van Vleuten who was 4. AnneMiek is now the new world cup leader in Marianne Vos' absence. A strong race by Sara Mustonen with her 11th place after doing the leadout.
Summing up, we had a good week in China, with a little dissapointing ending.

13.05.2011
Last stage was a speedy event with 11 rounds at 7,2km, totally 79,2km in Chongming centre.
As on the previous stages the intermediate sprints was desicive for the GC results. Our best rider in the GC, Emma Johansson, caught food posoning during the night and was in a reduced condition for the start. During the race she managed to take some bonus seconds, but with same time as Monia Baccaile (Mcippolini) she lost her 3d place on todays stage placement.
Positive today was that Sara Mustonen was in her agressive mood and won a intermediate sprint, that allowed her to climb to 5th in the GC. The team ended on a 3d place in the team competition, only beat by HTC Highroad and Nederland Bloeit.
Now follows a much needed rest day before the World cup on Sunday.

Second stage of 118 km started easy, and Emma won the first bonus sprint after 40 km. Before the last bonus sprint after 83 km HTC-Highroad decided to put pressure on the peloton and put all their 6 riders at the front. They blew the peloton into 3 parts, and the result was a 18 women leader group where we had Emma and Sara.
15 km before the finish Garmin-Cervelo got problems when their best rider Armitstead got problems. Despite a saving attempt from former Hitec-rider Trine Schmidt she couldnt come back. The 16 girl break sprinted for the win 1:40 before the main peloton. HTC Highroad kept control and Teutenberg won, and Emma was 4, Sara 11. Over 40 girls on the start of the first Norwegian Cup in Sandnes. We started with Emilie Moberg, Johanne Bergseth and Cecilie Johansen. After a much more uneventful race than we planned and expected, the race finally exploded 5 km from the finish. Cecilie raced hard up the last hill, while Johanne raced equally hard downhill into Sandnes where Emilie took the sprint in crushing style. Closest was Linea Fredäng (Åsane CK) and Stine Borgli (Bryne CK).

Due to unforeseen circumstances we arrived in Luxembourg with only 4 girls, Emma Johansson, Sara Mustonen, Lise Nøstvold and Frøydis Wærsted. The short 'showrace' team time trial on Friday was a wet and dark affair for us with a start time of 21:30. We ended on a 9th place, and HTC Highroad won.
On saturday it was time for 'GP Elsy Jacobs' (UCI 1.1), and Emma broke away with Marianne Vos (Nederland Bloeit) and Judith Arndt (HTC Highroad). Emma was tired in the end and gambled on an early sprint that was catched and she was 3 behind Vos and Arndt.
The last race day in our spring campaign was 'GP Nicolas Frantz' (UCI 1.1) that Emma won last year. She didnt manage to defend her title as the podium incredibly ended up identical as the day before. But with Lise Nøstvold on 11, Sara on 15 and Frøydis on 20.place (after a crash!), it was a good day for the team!. Now awaits a well deserved break until the next race for the team in China.

WFor the third year in a row, Hitec raced in Roeselare. The race was hard mostly due to the heat. Lisa Brennauer made her season debut for the team and worked hard the first hour. After that most of the hard work was done by Lise Nøstvold and Sara Mustonen. In the small laps Amber Neben (HTC) escaped and we were for the first time slow to react. Sara and Lise worked to bring her back, with some help from AA Drink. It did not succeed, and Neben won her first ever classic by 36 seconds. Emma Johansson showed her improved sprint once again and beat great sprint specialists like Kirsten Wild (AA Drink) and Rochelle Gilmore (Lotto Honda), when she went 450 meters before the finish. Sara finished 12 and Lise 20. The race rounded off an excellent easter for Hitec Products UCK, with 3 podiums, a 5th place, several top 20 placings and 180 UCI points. On the downside we had some crashes, bruises and broken bones, so a week of relaxing will be good before the races in Luxembourg and Norway this weekend.

This flat classic on the Dutch 'Zeeuwsche Eilanden' is known for being flat and windy. This time it was mostly just flat without wind, with a nervous peloton as a result. The crashes was many, and unfortunately Johanne Bergseth went down, but without any injuries. On the second round, Christina Becker (Skil Koga) attacked and gained a maximum of 1 minute. Our riders helped in chasing her down. On the third of the 4 big laps, a big break of 21 riders formed, where we had Sara and Emilie. On the last round, Sara and 7 other riders escaped from the initial break. Unfortunately, Marianne Vos bridged across carrying the eventual sprint winner in the group of 11, Kirsten Wild.
Sara Mustonen did a great race and sprinted to 5th place. Emilie was 17, while Frøydis Wærsted and Cecilie Johansen finished in the bunch. 81 of the initial 180 riders finished the race.

Lise Nøstvold and Sara Mustonen was very active in the front for us, Lise had a crash 4 km before the finish without being injured. Emma Johansson came very close to her first world cup victory when she rode hard up the Mur against the finish. Marianne Vos caught up with her 50 meters before the finish line and with her third win in 6 days she took over the lead in the world cup. For the first time, Hitec mixed up with Norway U23. This was a good experience for all parties. For technical reasons we all raced in the Hitec shirts. From our team was Lise, Frøydis and Johanne, and from Norway U23 was Thea Thorsen, Miriam Bjørnsrud, Stine Borgli and Marthe Skjolden. There was 154 riders to start, and of them was 7 UCI teams and national teams and the rest was Dutch and Belgian club teams.
The race started with some technical problems for Lise Nøstvold, and Johanne Bergseth twice brought her back to the peloton.
Frøydis Wærsted managed to get into the decisive break of 18 riders on the first long lap. Lise Nøstvold was very close, but her small group chasing the break was caught by the peloton. Despite good efforts from the four U23 girls to shorten the gap to the break so Lise could bridge over to them, this didnt happen. Frøydis finished with a promising 15th place, while Lise ended on place 21.

The third world cup started with a new crash for our team, Marie went down after 8 km, but luckily no injuries, but out of the race. Like thursday, it was too nice weather and too little wind to make a selective race, so it ended in a new bunch sprint. The team worked really hard today, and Emma was really close to a top result, but had to settle for a 9th place after a rough sprint with some elbows and close-to-the-fence experiences in the crazy last kilometer.

The final stage was held in Haren, and was almost a criterium, with 5 rounds a 12 km and a technical course. Something for Emilie Moberg, who took an intermediate sprint (assisted by Emma J) to win some crucial ponus seconds, enough to win the youth jersey. Lots of attacks today, the last one from Emma in the final kilometers. It wasn't to be, and Marianne Vos won. Sara Mustonen was our best with 8th place. Adrie Visser (HTC Highroad) won overall, Emma took a 6th in the general classification and Emilie a promising 12th place. We were one of the very few teams to finish with all riders, now a few days rest before we return to Holland and Ronde van Drenthe.

09.04.2011
The third stage was held in the old 'Middag Humsterland'-course, and it was the longest stage of the race with 123 km. After 25 km Tone Hatteland started an attack that triggered a counterattack of 11 riders where we had Emma. Nederland Bloeit had 4 riders, HTC Highroad 2, AA drink 2 and Diadora Pasta Sara and Belgium had 1. The break formed a classic echolon in the sidewind and checkmated the peloton (and the other big teams Garmin Cervelo, Tibco, Dolmans, Forno d'Asolo and Lotto). They soon gained 6 minutes and the rest of the Hitec girls had an easy day in a peloton with many frustrated big teams. With 20 km to go, Visser (HTC), Gunnevijk (NB) and Zabelinskaya (Diadora) attacked the group and managed to get away. Visser won ahead of Gunnewijk, and in the remaining group Emma beat big guns like Vos, Wild and Teutenberg to take the 4th place, and advanced to 5th in the GC. Emilie Moberg droppe some places in the youth contest, only on placements. She still need only 1 second to take the jersey. Tomorrow is the last stage of 88 km. Only approx 100 riders remain.

This race takes place the day after Ronde van Vlaanderen, and many riders were marked by the efforts from the day before. High speed in the huge peloton of 200 riders from the start, and due to crashes and the high speed riders were dropping like flies from the back. We lost Johanne, Tone, Cecilie and Marie during the big lap of 76 km. Emilie suffered a crash but was brought back and did a very good race. Emma Johansson took 3 of the 5 mountain sprints on this big lap. After 70 km, the peloton was only 65 riders left. Onto the small local rounds, Sara Mustonen attacked with Grace Verbeke, but was caught, much due to an automatic bridge. Sara won all the 4 intermediate sprints in the small laps and took the sprint jersey. Out on the last lap, Moberg was in a shortlived break with 4 riders, after that it was down to a bunch sprint with 61 riders. Emma was again the strongest in the sprint. Emma won her fifth race of the season, the second in a massasprint. A sweet revenge after the disappointment the day before.

The first part of the race was chaotic. After 10 km, Sara Mustonen crashed out of the race, and Emma Johansson punctured 800 meters later. Lise Nøstvold gave her wheel to Emma, and both eventually was brought back. Cecilie Johansen crashed after 40 km, but was soon back in the peloton. Marie Voreland and Tone Hatteland raced hard in front towards the crucial first cobblestone hill Kwaremont. Emma entered Kwaremont as no 2 in the peloton after Chantal Blaak (AA Drink). Hereafter a group of 20 riders were formed. Lise Nøstvold almost made her way to Emmas group but crashed on the cobble streak 'Haghoek'. Emmas group eventially was reduced to 12 riders, with 3 from the strongest team Nederland Bloeit. Sara Duster (Nederland Bloeit) and Ludivine Henrion (Lotto) attacked with 40 km to go. Duster dropped Henrion on the 'Muur', and was not catched until the 2 km mark. Emma, Grace Verbeke (Topsport Vlaanderen) and Antoshina (Gauss) did the work to catch the break. Annemiek van Vleuten attacked as the gap closed, and only Antoshina could follow her. Van Vleuten won comfortably, and Marianne Vos beat Emma for the 3d place in a tight sprint. A repeat of last years 4th place for Emma was not our goal, but still an acceptable result!

A rainy day in northern Italy. Difficult course, nervous and with many crashes. Emma Johansson again delivered the goods, by winning a sprint in a small chase group and become number 2 behind the magnificent Emma Pooley (Garmin Cervelo). Pooley attacked after 60 km, when the peloton had just climbed the Orino hill, and had at the most 3 minutes lead, finishing 1 min 30 secs in front of Emma J. Tone was involved in a crash after 15 km and never really came back in the race. Emilie, Sara and Marie worked bravely to hold the peloton together until the climb after 40 km, when the peoloton disintegrated up the climb to catch Sharon Laws from Garmin. Lise, Sara and Emma remained as the peoloton was reduced to 37 riders. Lise did a serious attempt to close the gap to Pooley third time up the climb, but as there was no support from any other teams in the rapidly decreasing chase group, Pooley was allowed to repeat her stunt from 2008. Only 80 of the 160 starters finished the race, and many teams didnt finish with any riders. Emma J beat great sprinters like Annemiek Van Vleuten (Nederland Bloeit), Martine Bras (Dolmans), Shelley Olds (Diadora Pasta Zara) and Chantal Blaak (AA Drink), and proved again that her sprint has improved greatly from 2010. So, Hitec Products UCK is number 2 in the World Cup and will start Ronde van Vlaanderen in a week with car number two!

Johanne Bergseth and Emilie Moberg raced in Belgium when the rest of the team was in France. A peloton of 51 to start (among them Lotto and Nederland Bloeit), of which 31 finished. The girls was excited about the good prices for the 8 intermediate sprints, and both girls showed some impressive sprinting. They won 3 sprints ((Emilie 2, Johanne 1), all of them in peloton massasprints. All the other sprints were taken by girls in breaks. The largest teams (GKV, Keukens Redant and Sengers) attacked constantly, and it was down to the Hitec-girls to chase down everything. In the end it was too much and it was Helene vander Massen (GKV) who broke away to a strong solo win. The girls sprinted into 7th (Johanne) and 11th place (Emilie), and wasnt too unhappy about that. This was Johannes best international result (we decided to rule out U6), and she has shown a great progress this spring. PS. Sorry for the poor video quality :-)

We got Sara in a 4 rider break with Emilia Fahlin from HTC-Highroad and Anna Fischer from Abus Nutrixxion. We were looking forward to a sprint shootout between the 2 Swedish stars, but 500 meters before the finish Anna Fischer attacked, and the Swedes were both unwilling to close the gap. She origins from Sandnes SK, which still is her licence club.
In her 'youth' she was part of the Norwegian U23 womens academy, but her studies made it difficult a couple of years. Many people would write her off at some point. But last year she marked herself positive in her 'Team Alfa' by winning 2 national races and helping her team mate Tina Andreassen to silver in the Norwegian Cup. At 24 years she is now ready to work hard for the team and develop herself further as a rider.

All the Norwegian girls were gathered in Stavanger, at our main sponsor Hitec Products. Before the press conference, we found time for handing out the Etto helmets, the new Craft team clothes, Scott bikes, sports nutrition from Proteinfabrikken and many other things. We started the day at Jæren SportMed where the girls went through a lactate test. Later we continued with a course by dietary specialist Oddveig Drøpping. We finished with a dinner at the local club Bryne CK's annual party.
