- Training Camp in
Nederland
14.12.2009The third training camp for Team Hitec Products UCK was held in Nederland this weekend. We stayed at Van der Valk hotel in Ridderkerk, a very good hotel outside Rotterdam. This was the first time newcomers Lisa Brennauer (ex Nurnberger) and Nathalie Lamborelle (ex Team Uniqa-Elk) was with the team. On the friday we did physical testing in Zwolle, when we had a visit by Norwegian national coach Steffen Kjærgaard.
For the Saturday there was a long ride in the Rotterdam area, which we know now have lots of traffic lights. For the evening there was a short core stability training, before the 2010 race plans was presented. The height of the weekend was no doubt the nice new velodrome in Apeldoorn, where we spent 3 hours on the Sunday. For the girls this was a very positive experience, with experience ranging from none at all to world class track riders like Brennauer.
It is understandable why Dutch women cycling have the highest level in the world, when its possible to train like this for 2-3 times a week in the winter.

- Training Camp in Stavanger Area,
November 2009
16.11.2009
The second training camp for the season is completed this weekend, this time on the road bikes in Stavanger. We did two long ride training sessions with implemented technique and tactical drills. The Saturday we took a little hilly course, among them the Rogaland Grand Prix hill in Oltedal, and the weather was a little windy with some rain. On sunday the weather was beautiful, 9 degrees and sunshine, when we went through Stavanger centre for some local cobblestone training and southwards along the coast, before returning to base camp in Ålgård.
There was as usual different individual tests, sessions and talks.
We also had a core strength session in the local training centre, before we spent the Saturday evening playing curling!

19.10.2009The 'new' team had a succesful first camp in Ålgård, Stavanger this weekend. 11 of the 12 girls was gathered in Gjesdal Gjestgiveri, a quiet and friendly hotel close to Kongeparken and E39. - Kalascupfinalen,
K-senior!
1. Jensen (UCK)
2. Saastad (Hitec)
3. Mustonen (Hitec) +0.20
4. Torp (Lotto) s.t
5. Larsen (Arendal) s.t
Ps.

World Championships Road Race, Mendrisio!
26.09.2009
Guderzo (Italia) vant, foran Marianne Vos.

Frøydis to the World Championships!
15.09.2009
Frøydis Meen Wærsted have been selected as the only woman elite representative for Norway in the World Championship road race 26.September. We are very happy on behalf of Frøydis and wish her the best of luck in Mendrisio. She is the third girl from the team to race in Mendrisio, with Mustonen and Mercer. We would very much wish that Norway sent a full team to the championship, but with good work in 2010 this can happen next year.

- World Cup Final, Rund um der Nurnberger Altstadt,
Germany 13.9.09
14.09.2009
The last UCI ctegory race for the team in 2009 ended with another success for our fresh team. The weather was better than the forecast, and the bunch was smaller than usual. Only 84 riders on the start list, obviously more teams than us have some wear after a long season. We started with a reduced team, Isabelle Søderberg had not recovered from the crash in Holland Ladies Tour, Tone Hatteland was back but not recovered. So we started with 5 riders but in reality only 4 fit for fight. The tactics was easy because of the situation in the World Cup (Emma had to beat Vos) and Cervelo with Kirsten Wild looking for her first WC win. No breaks would be succesful so all we had to do was try to protect Sara Mustonen and wait for the sprint.
Kirsten Wild duly won the massasprint with the 77 remaining riders, and we are happy with Sara's 7th placing. She added 15 points to her already healthy UCI-point account. Also Rachel Mercer had a good placement with her 17th place and her first world cup points. Tone trew in the towel in the 6t round which was 5 more than we expected. Line Foss did another good race and is the only Norwegian girl to finish 4 world cup races this season. Eyelien Bekkering worked hard in a course that suited her well. With this final race Sara Mustonen ended up as number 25 in the world cup rankings, and is now well established into the top 50 girls in the world on the UCI-rankings.

Tour de L'Ardeche, Frankrike
10.09.2009

Holland Ladies Tour,
Stage 4 & 5
05.09.2009
Two more flat rainy windy stages, won by Wild (Stage 3) and Teutenberg (Stage 4). Our 4 remaining riders are doing OK. Yesterday was nothing special with regards to results, but today Sara Mustonen had a nice 5th place in the sprint after a lead-out by Janneke Ensing. Eyelien and Danielle finished in the peloton. The race will conclude tomorrow with a hard stage in Valkenburg, almost the same course as Holland Hills Classic.

04.09.2009
To do good in the Holland Ladies Tour, you need luck. So far we have not have any of that! Margriet Kloppenburg had stomach problems and did not start. Isabelle Søderberg crashed in the rainy and windy weather and is out of the tour. Janneke Ensing punctured on this stage with start and finish in her home town. Sara Mustonen finished on 36.place, with Danielle Bekkering, Eyelien Bekkering and Janneke finished in the peloton. The stage was won (again) by Kirsten Wild. Now we have only 4 girls left for the 3 last stages.

Albstadt, stage 3,
23.August
25.08.2009
The final stage in Albstadt was a criterium in the city centre, with a 2 km course. Sara Mustonen did not start because illness, so Isabelle Søderberg was free to do her favourite thing today, sprinting!
She had a tough start of the stage race when she didnt succeed in the prologue, and worked her self far down in the basement for the team in the hilly course on Saturday. So it was a pleasure to see her sprint to 3.place and on the podium for the second time this year.

Albstadt Stage 2
22.08.2009
It was a new experience for the team, to defend a yellow jersey. When the main character Sara Mustonen woke up ill, it was not the best start for us on the second day in Albstadt. We managed to keep the peloton together the first hour. Then the attacks from Nurnberger got to hard for us. Sara had a really painful day in the hills, but with the good help of her team mates she managed to finish only 12 seconds behind the first group. The winner today was Becker from Nurnberger Versicherung, and they were no doubt the strongest team today. At the moment we doubt Sara will start for the last day.

Frøydis Meen Wærsted til Hitec Products UCK/Froydis Meen Waersted to
Hitec Products UCK
12.08.2009
Antwerpen Bicycle Club foruten landslaget.
kjører for Hitec neste år.
Kermiss-ritt i Belgia. Hun ble nr 6 i NM fellesstart.
A key signing for next year's UCI-team roster. 22 year old Froydis
completes the team with outstanding peloton placement, courage and ability
to be in breaks, and climbing abilities. She stays for the time being in
Belgium, and have this year raced for the Belgian club team Royal
Antwerpen Bicycle Club, besides the Norwegian national team. In Norway she
hold a licence in Kongsberg IF, and is so team mate with Kristine Saastad,
also riding for Hitec next year. The Norwegian Federations' Sports
Manager, Steffen Kiaergaard, gives the following statement of her:
"Frøydis have lived an anonymous existence in Norwegian cycling since she
left the junior class four years ago, but is perhaps the most talented
girl we have. She is the U23-athlete that performs best in the tougher
races. she is the one who is responding to the international level best -
especially in hilly terrain"
Her results so far this year is 10 times top 30 in UCI races, and several
top 5 in Belgian Kermiss races. She was 6th in the National Championships
road race.

6th place to Hitec
Products UCK in Vårgårda World Cup!
02.08.2009
Sara Mustonen sprinted to 6th place in the world cup road race in Vårgårda today! Kirsten Wild (cervelo), Marianne Vos (DSB), emma johansson (redsun) took the other top placings in the first group of 20 riders. Isabelle Søderberg, janneke Ensing and Line Foss did good work and finished in the second group. Hitec mustered a reduced team as Tone Hatteland and Danielle Bekkering was out with illness and injuries. After a somewhat dissapointing team time trial on friday this is the best world cup result in the teams history :-)

Tour de Bretagne, 4.
& 5. Etappe
20.07.2009
Today the two last stages was held in quick succesion. On the time trial we had a nasty accident when Danielle Bekkering fell face first in the technical circuit. She finished covered on blood to a decent time and after a quick trip to the hospital she was ready to work in the road race. Sara Mustonen also crashed but still finished in place 8! Isabelle finally lost the jersey to Burchenkova (Petrogradetz) after 3 days in white. The final stage was a road race and with 4 girls left in the final the bunch sprint ended with a 3.place to Sara after Vos and de Vocht from DSB. So with the 4th place in the general classification this our best stage race so far. It was also very nice to see the Norwegian national team make a professional performance the whole race.

Tour de bretagne, 2.
& 3. Etappe
19.07.2009
We kept the white jersey for two more stages in bretagne! With great teamwork we have won bonus seconds both days in the intermediate sprints with Isabelle. Yesterday Janneke Kanis (DSB) won, while today Marianne Vos (DSB) won ahead of Sara Mustonen.
Danielle Bekkering was in a break for 10 km today with 60 secs at the most. Also Line Foss had a short breakaway. With good placings in the general classification the time trial tomorrow is extremely important. DSB is dominating the race and control the yellow yersey.

Tour de bretagne, stage 1 16. July
17.07.2009
The first stage was hot and with many small hills. We succesfully pulled up Isabelle to win a precious bonus second in the first sprint, this was enough to get the youth jersey. tone crashed when getting bottles from the team car, but managed to finish. DSB was dominating in the final laps, and we were to few in the front to cope with the breakaway of De vocht. Vos won the peloton sprint and Sara Mustonen finished on a 8th place. With the bonus sprint seconds we are 4 & 5 in the general classification so not too bad start.

This family friendly race was used for training purposes by the team. Tactics and tasks were kept to a minimum. Isabelle Søderberg was allowed to race with men elite, and got a week with quality high speed racing. She and Tone H. was not allowed to do the last stage to get enough rest before next weeks stage race in Bretagne. Rachel Mercer had the best individual result, with a 2.place in stage 2 after being in a break with two other girls. She could also have won the overall race with a better time trial (she was trailing 22 seconds before the final stage), but a 4th place in the general classification is not bad either. Margriet Kloppenburg also did a good race, after a scrappy start she finished with two 4th places and a 3.place in the criterium. Tone Hatteland had a mediocre race after her bad crash in the 3rd stage when she lost 4 minutes to the peloton. She had to settle for a 4th place in stage 5 and abandoned before the time trial to recover for Bretagne, the right hand is not quite ok. Sissel Østvold had an OK race with a nice 8th placing in stage 5 and contributed to the 2.place in the team classification with her time trial. Helen Osland crashed twice in stage 2 and 3 and her 18th place in the criterium was the best result. So, the result for the team was second in the team contest, 4 in the general classification and 2 podium places. The race was won by Bjørg Eva Jensen after two very good time trials in the first and last stages.

After a close to perfect team effort the 4th place of Tone Hatteland in the bunch sprint was dissapointing. An incident before the last roundabout sent her a few positions back into the final stretch, and it was no help to have the clearly greatest speed over the finish line. Linn Torp won with 20 mm to Elin Fylkesnes, while Marie Voreland took the Bronse. The other Hitec girls, Helen, Karoline, Sissel and Line worked very hard to keep the peloton together, and deserves a lot of credit.

In the final sprint Tone was beaten on the last meters by the young "bolt of lightning" Marie Voreland (Ringerike). Tour de PEI, Stage 3
09.06.2009
Today was the longest and hilliest stage of 121 km. Our girls had instructions to attack constantly. The crazy windy stage yesterday, which saw local club riders beat (among others) TT world champ Kupfernagel with several minutes called for strong measures if something was to be done. We only partly succeeded. In the final we got Sara Mustonen in a break of 4 but they only gained 1 second on the peloton. Nice 4th place by Sara, and a second stage win by Bronzini.
Selected

The 14,5 km Time trial over the Confederation bridge, the worlds longest bridge over icy water, was difficult. The wind changed during the competition. So we lost valuable time for the general classification for Sara. After this it will be difficult for a sprinter team to go for the GC but stage wins is possible!

The course was a beach promenade in the centre. Regina Bruins won on the fantastic time 03:57 (53,16 km/h), Sara was again our strongest with 04:11 (50,2 km/t)

Then later the same day it was time for the little italy criterium. This was a 1 km course with 4 90 degree bends to be done 60 times. The speed was again extreme, due to the Cervelo train, that secured the third stage win by Kirsten Wild. Sara Mustonen did a great sprint and ended on 5th place, our best result in Canada so far! Isabelle and Tone finished with the peloton, Danielle and Margriet a little behind, while Line unfortunately was lapped and thereby out of the race. A pity since the final stage is more her style with a big hill. But we have Sara in 12th place, still 5 riders and are ready for the last stage!
Senere samme dag var det tid for gateritt i "Little Italy".

Le Tour of Great Montreal, Stage 2, Granby 104 km Road Race!
03.06.2009
Another Kirsten Wild win, after great job from the Cervelo Test Team. They held like yesterday a constant high speed in the peloton. Sara Mustonen did a great sprint and captured important UCI-points for the team with a 6th place. She is number 9 in the general classification. Several good Hitec Products results today means that the team was no 3 in the team competition for the day, 5th overall. Isabelle Søderberg is no 6 in the youth jersey contest. Henk Sentse reports of a great effort by the team. Next stage is a short time trial, followed by a criterium. So if any stage is a speciality for Team Hitec Products UCK it should be this!

Weekend of racing in Holland!
25.05.2009
Saturday Eyelien and Danielle Bekkering raced the criterium of Rijssen, a town in the east of Nederland. 103 riders were lined up for the start of 70km race and the speed was high during the whole race. The little hill in the finishstreet was quite painful for the legs, so some riders had to let go the peloton. Also quite a lot of girls tried to get away from the peloton, but no breakaway was succesful until the last 15km. 6 girls with Danielle managed to get a 25 sec. lead and they had to sprint for the victory. Annemiek van Vleuten did win for Dani King (Great Britain) and Danielle, so another podium for Hitec! Eyelien finished 12 and was also satisfied with her racing.
Sunday Eyelien raced the criterium of Buchten, all the way down south. Under very sunny conditions (27-28 degrees!) the 60 riders had to race 80 km and after a few attacks and a lot of work from Eyelien to be in one of them. It was in the end a breakaway of two riders with a win for Yvonne Baltus. Eyelien finished 13.

Østfold 3-dagers, Road Race 24.May!
24.05.2009
The 6-woman team was confident after the performance on Saturday, and set off with a plan. We wanted to show we can also cycle uphill. If not Line Foss wins, then Janneke Ensing will surely win. And if everything else fails then Tone Hatteland will be there for the sprint. Karoline Haverstad tried a breakaway on the first round but was catched. When we passed the finish first time Line tried, and in the confusion there was a crash inwolving several riders. Unfortunately Janneke used too much of her power to catch the peloton after this. Madeleine Olson made a break, and we didnt work until the gap was 45 seconds. Then Karoline Haverstad and Line Foss brought her back, with the help of a couple other teams. Lines breakaway 4 km from the finish was reeled in after 1 km. When Janneke goes then she gets Walskaar (Team Alfa) on the wheel, and she is understandably not willing to work. So with 1 km to go the bunch is altogether. Walskaar do a nice leadout for her captain Elin Fylkesnes, but Tone is on her wheel. Unlike last year Elin didnt last up the steep finish and Tone could secure the second win in two days for Team Hitec Products. It was especially good to see that there was 7 teams with 3 riders or more in the peloton, never seen before in a Norwegian race. There was Team High End from Denmark and Svanesund from Sweden, but still this is very positive for Norwegian woman cycling. We could see former individualists working together and sacrificing themselves, abilities we have only seen among the men before.

2. Elin Steinsbø Fylkesnes – Team Alfa
3. Johanna Nilsson – Ørebro CK (Sverige)
4. Nikoline Hansen – Team High End Sport (Danmark)

Thijs Rondhuis to Team Hitec Products UCK .
21.05.2009
It is with great pleasure we announce that Thijs Rondhuis, the man behind the success of one of the worlds best women cycling teams, DSB Bank, and also the former trainer of world champion and olympic champion Marianne Vos, have accepted a full time position in Team Hitec Products UCK. He will enter his position full time from the 2010 season, while he is now busy as an organiser of races in Nederland. But his work with respect to next years team composition has already begun. This weekend he will come to Norway to observe the largest woman peloton in the history of the Norwegian national cup. We think that his determination, experience and abilities is what the team needs to become a top team in the next few years.
This is a statement of Thijs:
"Hitec Products is a stable company with a professional way of working. In talks with team manager of the UCI team, Karl Lima it is clear to me that he wants in the coming years a cycling team that has the same level as the company. I want to help to bring Team Hitec Products UCK and Norwegian women in general to a higher level. The first period will be used to build a team for the future, the base will be riders from Scandinavia especially from Norway. With professional staff, good trainingfacilities and a suitable race program riders will get the chance to grow and reach international level. Our 3 year plan has the goal to make it possible for this team to compete in the top of international women cycling. I want to take this challenge!"
His activities the last years: 1998-2001
Teamleader /coach juniors (nieuwelingen en junioren) 2002-2004 Teamleader / coach Energiewacht-NWVG (team for elite men) 2005-2008
Teamleader / coach DSB Bank (team for elite women)
The team started in 2005 as clubteam and it growed to UCI team.
In 2007 and 2008 DSB was 2 in the UCI ranking for teams.
Trainer / coach Marianne Vos

Danielle Bekkering, Team Hitec Products UCK, won the criterium Ronde van Nordhoorn in Nederland 16.May. She was in a break with 3 other riders, when she and Anna van der Breggen (Team Flexpoint) dropped the 2 others. In the final she tricked the young van der Breggen and won her first Dutch race this season! Janneke Ensing won the sprint in the peloton and finished 4th, and Eyelien Bekkering was 8, so it was a good day for our team!

Omloop der Middag Humsterland UCI 1.2 9.May .
10.05.2009
The Dutch UCI race was a turning point for the Hitec girls in 2009. With Sara Mustonen on the team there was high spirits and a strong will to sit in the front of the peloton. The race had a lot of breaks, and we were in every one of them. Danielle Bekkering had several attempts, including a couple on her own. Also her sister Eyelien was in a break for quite some time. Midway she had a puncture when Margriet Kloppenburg fell back to help her back into the peloton. Janneke Ensing did a great job in collecting bottles and controlling breaks. We lost one of the sprinters when Tone Hatteland crashed and suffered minor head injuries (and a broken frame). In the final sprint in the town of Aduard with 80 riders, Isabelle did excactly what was agreed, to stay on Rochelle Gilmores wheel. She finished 3, but was very close to go all the way. Sara Mustonen did a little too much work in front the last 500meters, but finished with a nice 5th place. Only herself was a little disappointed... A good day for us, with our first UCI race podium in 2009.

5 of the Hitec girls started in the criterium in Heerenveen tonight. The plan was to be present in a break, and to obtain points for all the Dutch girls for the national championships (Top 20 placement). Both plans succeeded. Eyelien Bekkering got in the decisive break of 6 girls, and was 5th, while the other girls worked hard in the peloton to stop any new breaks. The results for the other girls was Janneke Ensing (8), Danielle Bekkering (12), Tone Hatteland (15) and Margriet Kloppenburg (17). There was only 35 of the more than 80 starters to finish the race. The race was won by Monique van der Ree (Leontien.nl).

03.05.2009
Saturday had two stages, 29,5 km Time Trial and a road race of 66km. In the time trial the girls raced controlled without burning all fuel because of the road race later. The stage was won by Amber Neben from USA. Our girls finished 40 (Isabelle), 43 (Margriet), 53 (Danielle) and 91 (Line). In the road race we did fairly well with Isabelle on 24.place as our best result. That is, if we dont concider Sara Mustonen on 3.place as good for us :-) This stage was won by Ina Teutenberg. Danielle and Margriet was in the same bunch as Isabelle but on 68. and 75.place. Line was out of limit for this race and can now start recovering until next weekend. Also Margriet has had problems with her stomach for the last days and will not start the last stage.

02.05.2009
Janneke Ensing showed great climbing qualities in the very "hilly" race GP Elsy Jacobs in Luxembourg today. After a long break with a back injury she gave a promising performance when she finished 29th place. The race was won by Svetlana Bubnenkova (Fenixs). First there was a group of 9 riders, with the peoloton of approx 45 riders 2:26 behind. There was only 57 riders of 109 that made it to the finish, in a hot day with almost 30 degrees. Of the remaining team from Hitec Products UCK, Tone Hatteland did well as she was in the peloton for 8 rounds before she was dropped in one of the two climbs on the circuit. Helen Osland, Karoline Haverstad and Sissel Østvold was out of the race relatively early.

Now the girls look forward to a "quiet day" with Time trial and criterium on Saturday.

Gracia Orlova, 1 etappe
30.04.2009

Another busy week ahead...
28.04.2009
It was an exiting weekend for the team, with ups and downs. In Omloop van Borsele the wind was heavy and the speed high. We finished with Danielle, Eyelien and Margriet, while the others had a hard day in the wind. The race was decided with a bunch sprint won by Kirsten Wild, with a certain strong swedish girl on an impressive 4th place! I was at the time very pleased for obvious reasons... :-)
We hurried on to Belgium and was installed in a sports hotel in Waregem, preparing to exchange the Dutch flats with Belgian hills in Roeselare and Kemmelberg.
The race had an early grim incident when Line Foss landed head first in a mass crash. Janneke Ensing, who have suffered back injury showed class at the front of the bunch on the way to Kemmelberg where she was pushed out and ended up on the cobbles, losing a top spot. Isabelle secured our best UCI-result this year with a nice 9th place in the bunch sprint, again won by Kirsten Wild from Cervelo Test Team.
Tone, Margriet and Janneke came in with the peloton.
After a visit to the local hospital Line Foss seem better than we feared, the shoulder was actually worse than the head injury. We already are getting short of helmets after 3 weeks of racing :-)
In the Norwegian cup Mari seem to getting better after being ill, and Sissel had a good result on Saturday.
The team is now on their way to Gracia Orlova (UCI 2.2), and another to Luxembourg (UCI 1.1).
We really look forward to get Sara Mustonen in the team from next week onwards, she seem to be in a fantastic form at the moment.

Sara Mustonen to Team Hitec Products UCK
27.04.2009
World class rider Sara Mustonen has agreed to join the womens UCI team Hitec Products UCK for the remainder of 2009. Sara will be a major enforcement for the team, as she have been riding in great style for the club team Team Merida so far in the season, latest with her 4.place in 'Omloop van Borsele' Saturday. She is a Swedish international which we expect will be contesting for a place in the World Championships this year. She will be a great complement to the scandinavian profile of Norwegian team, now consisting of 1 Danish, 2 Swedish, 3 Dutch and the remaining riders from Norway. Sara will still be part of and represent her Swedish Club team 'Cykelcity.se'.Sara Mustonen til Team Hitec Products UCK
Travel helg i tre land for Team Hitec Products UCK
24.04.2009

Base Camp in Norg, North Holland
16.04.2009
The team has stayed in the bungalows in Norg since March 31, and this is the last week. The location has been very good for the races in Germany, Drenthe and Belgium. And every Thursday there is a local criterium in Groningen, with between 120 and 150 riders of all classes. This is excellent speed training, and good opportunity to improve the peloton skills.
The surrounding area is beautiful, with small villages and woods, but of course mostly flat :-)
On Saturday we will leave the bungalows for now and return home for almost a week before its time to race again, Holland, Belgium, Czhech republic and last but not least, Grenland GP!
Here is some pictures from Norg and a little movie from the peloton at the criterium in Groningen.. can you spot the Hitec riders?

Unive Worldcup Ronde van Drenthe (UCI CDM)
13.04.2009

Novilon Eurocup
Ronde van Drenthe (UCI 1.1) 11.April
12.04.2009

Team ManagerTreningsritt i Groningen
Margriet Kloppenburg med i Flandern Rundt!
02.04.2009

Giro Nortorf Tyskland!
29.03.2009
Ritt nummer to i Tyskland for Hitec Products.

Ny leder i Team Hitec Products UCK!
14.02.2009
Syklet sesongene 2007, 2008 for Brugge Velosport.

We have received first batch of the clothes from Kalas, and of course we had to take new pictures of everybody.
We did a total of 5 training sessions, 3 of them long slow rides on skiing, all starting from Geilo hall, and the last two as spinning interval sessions on the Hotel Vestlia.
Our host at Vestlia was Nina Gessler, the German MTB Cyclist. On the saturday we also made time for 2 comfortable hours in a SPA. The early spring race plans was finalised. Bjørg Eva Jensen had a interesting presentation on motivation and her road to olympic skating gold. Danielle Bekkering and Janneke Ensing had to leave early on the Saturday to reach a skating competition in Holland (which Danielle won :-) Altogether it was a great succes and lots of smiling faces when we split up on Sunday.
