This Sunday Team Hitec Products lined up for Gent-Wevelgem (WWT) with goal of another top ten result. The race of 114km included two times the cobbled climbs Kemmelberg & Monteberg and once the Baneberg. Although the weather was nice, the winds were strong and already early in the race the peloton split in two because of it.
At 50km the first climb came and over the top a selection of 25 riders got clear, none of our Hitec girls. Emilie was the closest over Les videre
In today’s third round of the WWT Trofeo Alfredo Binda, the riders saw a course suited for those who prefer climbing to cobbles. After finishing 9th in Strade Bianche and 8th in Ronde Van Drenthe, Lauren was able to keep up the good standard by sprinting to a 9th place. A group of eight formed a strong breakaway in the second last of the small laps. Lauren and Vita found themselves in the group behind and were not able to chase back to the Les videre
Saturday we lined up for the second race of the Women’s Worldtour (WWT). The riders were met by good weather, the wind was present but not strong, the roads were Dutch, the VAM-berg and cobbles great fun, but tough! With such a strong peloton it would be all about positioning for the crucial moments. We hoped to get
someone in a breakaway before the long cobles. Janicke tested the Les videre
Team Hitec Products raced the first race in the UCI Women’s World Tour race, Strade Bianche in Sienna, Tuscany. The race offered a tough course and challenging weather for the 121km route through Toscana including 23km of white gravel roads and over 1800m of elevation with open terrain. Les videre
First out in the Track Cycling World Championships was Tatiana, Simona (Italy) and Charlotte (Germany) in the Team Time Trial. Both teams did strong performances, but to qualify for the next round the teams had to be top 8. Germany finished 10th and was therefore done, while Italy finished 7th and got to ride for better results next day. On second day Italy managed a new national record at 4’26”162 and advanced on the result list to a 6th.
In the Scratch race Charlotte and Kirsten made it very exciting for us. With 13 laps to go Charlotte was in a breakaway that even the Les videre
It’s a big week for our team and women’s cycling. In addition to the start of the Women’s Worldtour with the race Strade Bianche on Saturday 5th of March, four of our Hitec Products girls are competing at the Track Worlds this week.
Kirsten Wild (Netherlands) is prepared to defend her World Champion title in Scratch and her bronze medal in the Omnium from last year.
Charlotte Becker (Germany) will be bumping shoulders with Kirsten in the Scratch in addition to fight for her country in the team pursuit.
Tatiana Guderzo and Simona Frapporti (Italy) are also ready to fight in their country colors in the team pursuit, Simona will also compete at the omnium.
The event will be last chance to gain points to qualify for the Olympics later this year.
